In the summer of 1810, Amelia Sparling moves into a cottage on her aunt's magnificent estate in Hampshire while her sister recovers from a serious illness. Soon after settling into her new surroundings, a long-forgotten childhood rival, William Spencer, joins her at the cottage for an unexpected and unwelcome visit. As her initial prejudices break down, Amelia finds herself falling in love with the charming Mr. Spencer. Will the affection be mutual, or will Amelia return home with a broken heart?
